21st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits
Phnom Penh, 15th to 20th November 2012

       The 21st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits will be held from 15th to 20th November 2012 in Peace Palace building, Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia. This ASEAN Summit will be participated by Heads of State and Heads of Government of the Member States, Non-Member States and International Organizations, namely Commonwealth Australia, People's Republic of China, Republic of India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, United States of America, United Nations Secretariat, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, International Monetary Fund and World Trade Organization.

Main Media Guidelines
1. Media Registration:
      Journalists who wish to cover this 21st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits can register online at:www.asean2012.mfa.gov.kh

Media Registration
            - 05th October 2012      : Media Registration: open
            - 02nd November 2012 : Media Registration: close
How to register:
Complete the Online Media Registration and attach soft copies of the following documents:
·      Letter of assignment from the editor or executive of the Media,
·      A form of identification (Press ID card or passport for non-Cambodian citizen that is valid for at least six months),
·      A recent digital passport-sized photograph.
Note: Every single attachment shall be less than 1MB of size.

2. General Information
Venue:        The International Media Center (IMC) of the 21st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits is located in the Friendship Building (Mittha Pheap). IMC accommodates and facilitates journalist that covers this Summit.
Operation:  The IMC will be operated from 15th to 20th November 2012.
Hours of Operation: 8AM – 9PM (depend on schedule)

2.1. Dress Code
       All journalists are required to dress appropriately at all events. Man and woman should wear smart casual (with tie for man).
Note: T-shirt, Jeans, Shorts and Slippers are not allowed.
2.2. IMC Facilities
                        2.2.1. Information Desk
       Journalist should check the Information Desk for updated information and documents.

                        2.2.2. Common Working Area
       The area can accommodate around 2,000 journalists. IMC also provides computers with Internet access and Wi-Fi connection, printers and photocopiers on the first come, first served.
Note: Electricity in Cambodia is 220 Volts at 50 Hertz

                        2.2.3. Press Briefing Room
       Two separated press briefing rooms will be provided, which are located in IMC and another one located at the first floor of the Peace Palace. It is served on the "first come, first served". Reservation to use the Briefing Room should be contacted the Media officer.

                        2.2.4. Meal Arrangement
      Lunch and refreshment will be served at the IMC.
       If you have food abstention, please specify in the Media Registration Form!

            2.3. Customs Clearance
      At the airport, the Media Liaison Officers will facilitate to customs clearance.
       Journalist in need of help to customs clearance shall fill the Media Equipment List and attach that list to Media Officer before your arrival.

3. Press Cards:
       Press cards will be issued to journalist who has registered through online registration only in order to have access to the IMC. Press ID card will be available for pick-up at the General Department of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Information from 10-14 November 2012 and at the IMC from 15th November 2012. Journalist must display clearly their press ID card at all the times.

* Access to some specific events is subject to press pools in order to fit the volume session.
* Pool Pass will be available to pick-up from the IMC officer at an hour prior of each meeting.

4. Services provided at IMC
4.1. Media Booth:
      Media booths are available for rent at the IMC and provided on the "first come, first served".
       Booking starts from 05th to 30th October 2012.
Standard booth equipped with:
- 9 square meters (3m x 3m),
- Two (02) tables (size: 1.6m x 0.8m),
- Four (04) chairs,
- Two (02) 220v 10A sockets,
- One (01) TV
- One (01) fan
- Internet Connection Speed 5 MB (Internet cables and Wi-Fi are optional)

            Rate: 750USD/ booth
            Reservation closing date: 30th October 2012

                4.2. Broadcasting Services
       National Television of Kampuchea (TVK) and National Radio of Kampuchea (RNK) are the Host Broadcaster of the meeting. TVK and RNK will provide client of the broadcasting with the international quality television coverage of key events along with other television services.

            4.3. Photos Service
      Cambodia News Agency (AKP) is the host photographer. AKP will provide photo coverage of the 21st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits or it can be downloaded free of charge from the AKP website:htt://akp.gov.kh, from Flicker at: www.flickr.com/photos/ asean2012cambodia, from Facebook at:facebook/asean.summit.2012 and from Sharing Network Folder on computers in the IMC.

            4.4. Tentative Program
      Tentative program for media and other information about the events will be released in due courses at IMC and at www.asean2012.mfa.gov.kh

5. Media Coverage
      Due to the space limitation and security reason, media covering is arranged through pools. Two (02) pools would be allocated to each country (one for cameraman and one for photographer). Please contact Media Liaison Officer or Media Officer.
Note: Pool Pass is divided into two types: Pool Pass as a type of card is for journalist and Armband is for Media Officer (Armband for Official Media and Armband for Host Media).
                                   
6. Transportation and Vehicle Pass
Vehicle pass:     Only vehicle with vehicle pass is allowed to enter the venues.
Vehicle rental: Car with 15 seats, 25 seats and other luxury car are available for rent (include   vehicle pass).
      Media in need of vehicle pass or vehicle rental is required to fill in the vehicle registration form or vehicle rental form then send to the General Department of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Information. (Please refer to Contact Point, page 4)

7. Accommodation (suggested hotels) and Travel Arrangement
      Media will be responsible for their own travel arrangements, reservation and payments of hotel/ accommodation.
      The IMC officer can facilitate in hotel booking and transportation if there is requested.

Cambodia and Japan commit to preserve heritage site as oil and gas exploration begins in Preah Vihear

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 30, 2012 – The Japanese Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) agreed with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Sok An in a meeting on Monday that the historic temples of Preah Vihear province must be protected and conserved. H.E. Dr. Sok An, Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, told Akira Suzuki, Executive Director and member of the Board of JOGMEC, that there are more than 200 historic sites in the province, including the Temple of Preah Vihear. Dr. Sok An said that it is very important that such cultural heritage be cared for so as to attract more tourists to the area. Already there are 2,000 tourists per day visiting Preah Vihear province. The province is also rich in mineral resources and fertile land for agriculture, he said. Cambodia and Malaysia look to further cooperation in agriculture, tourism and education sectors

PHNOM PENH, February 20, 2014  – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister shared views on Thursday that both countries can tap mutual benefits and complement each other. Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Tan Sri Muhyiddin informed H.E. Sok An that, “Malaysia is good at rubber plantations, palm oil, and technology and the key is how best to work with Cambodia.” He said that Malaysian companies are interested in investing in processing rubber resin and can make good furniture from old rubber trees in Cambodia. Malaysian state run companies can also explore energy, generation, hydro-power plants and infrastructures such as roads in Cambodia. “We need feasibility studies first before the next steps can be taken.
