I have already viewed your video and express my gratitude.

I understand your concerns about the potential impact of the Gumball 3000 event on Cambodian cultural values and the feelings of the poor.

Allow me to emphasize that the reception of the Gumball 3000 delegation is a private sector initiative in Cambodia. This is an opportunity for Cambodia to showcase its peace, stability, and beauty to the world, as well as the friendliness of its people and the rich cultural heritage built by our ancestors. Furthermore, this charity program will raise funds to support Angkor Hospital for Children, providing direct healthcare and treatment benefits to Cambodian children.

The Royal Government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, and other relevant institutions, has extended its support for the organization of this program. This initiative aims to promote Cambodian tourism while preserving our cultural heritage, particularly with regard to the Angkor Wat temple region.

Certainly, there are diverse perspectives and opinions regarding the program’s structure. It is inconsequential how these opinions are conveyed. However, it is unfortunate that expressing differing viewpoints has become a contentious issue, leading to unnecessary heated debates among Cambodians.

The Gumball 3000 event has concluded in Cambodia, but the discussion surrounding it continues. In order to move forward, it is recommended that we put this matter to rest and instead focus on celebrating Pchum Ben, a significant Khmer holiday, in a harmonious manner.

Thank you for your understanding regarding the purpose of hosting the Gumball 3000 in Cambodia, even though certain aspects may not align with your preferences. On the occasion of Pchum Ben, our traditional Khmer festival, I extend my best wishes to you and your family./.

Cambodia and Japan commit to preserve heritage site as oil and gas exploration begins in Preah Vihear

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 30, 2012 – The Japanese Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) agreed with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Sok An in a meeting on Monday that the historic temples of Preah Vihear province must be protected and conserved. H.E. Dr. Sok An, Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, told Akira Suzuki, Executive Director and member of the Board of JOGMEC, that there are more than 200 historic sites in the province, including the Temple of Preah Vihear. Dr. Sok An said that it is very important that such cultural heritage be cared for so as to attract more tourists to the area. Already there are 2,000 tourists per day visiting Preah Vihear province. The province is also rich in mineral resources and fertile land for agriculture, he said. Cambodia and Malaysia look to further cooperation in agriculture, tourism and education sectors

PHNOM PENH, February 20, 2014  – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister shared views on Thursday that both countries can tap mutual benefits and complement each other. Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Tan Sri Muhyiddin informed H.E. Sok An that, “Malaysia is good at rubber plantations, palm oil, and technology and the key is how best to work with Cambodia.” He said that Malaysian companies are interested in investing in processing rubber resin and can make good furniture from old rubber trees in Cambodia.
