Après la rencontre entre Samdech Decho Hun Sen, Premier Ministre du royaume du Cambodge et Lok Chumteav Yingluck Shinawatra, Premier ministre du royaume de la Thailande, le 13 juillet 2012 à la ville de Siem Reap, les deux parties se sont mises d’accord pour un redéploiement militaire.

Le 18 Juillet 2012, le gouvernement royal du Cambodge décide de redéployer 485 soldats de la zone démilitarisée conformément à la Décision de la Cour Internationale de Justice datant du 18 juillet 2011.

La cérémonie de ce redéploiement aura lieu au commandement de paix 5 Makara-Preah Vihear. Ce premier redéploiement concerne les militaires basés dans le périmètre autour du temple de PreahVihear à savoir l’Escalier du Dragon, l’Ancien Escalier Nord, l’Ancien Escalier Est et la pagode Keo Sikha Kiri Svarak. Les 485 militaires seront remplacés par 255 policiers et 100 forces de sécurité de conservation du temple.

De nombreux représentants du gouvernement royal du Cambodge, des membres de l’Assemblée Nationale et du Sénat, attachés militaires des pays amis accrédités à Phnom Penh et invités nationaux et internationaux y participeront.

Au même moment et même jour, il y aura aussi la célébration du 4ème anniversaire de l’inscription du temple Preah Vihear comme bien culturel mondial (2008-2012).

Cambodia and Japan commit to preserve heritage site as oil and gas exploration begins in Preah Vihear

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 30, 2012 – The Japanese Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) agreed with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Sok An in a meeting on Monday that the historic temples of Preah Vihear province must be protected and conserved. H.E. Dr. Sok An, Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, told Akira Suzuki, Executive Director and member of the Board of JOGMEC, that there are more than 200 historic sites in the province, including the Temple of Preah Vihear. Dr. Sok An said that it is very important that such cultural heritage be cared for so as to attract more tourists to the area. Already there are 2,000 tourists per day visiting Preah Vihear province. The province is also rich in mineral resources and fertile land for agriculture, he said. Cambodia and Malaysia look to further cooperation in agriculture, tourism and education sectors

PHNOM PENH, February 20, 2014 – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister shared views on Thursday that both countries can tap mutual benefits and complement each other. Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Tan Sri Muhyiddin informed H.E. Sok An that, “Malaysia is good at rubber plantations, palm oil, and technology and the key is how best to work with Cambodia.” He said that Malaysian companies are interested in investing in processing rubber resin and can make good furniture from old rubber trees in Cambodia. Malaysian state run companies can also explore energy, generation, hydro-power plants and infrastructures such as roads in Cambodia. “We need feasibility studies first before the next steps can be taken.
